Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I write about my life with my family, renovating our cottage and trying to lead a more creative life.

I was very excited to be approached by Lisa Rushton, the creative talent behind Heart Vintage UK ( www.heartvintage.co.uk ) to work on a collaboration.  Heart Vintage is an independent homeware and stationery brand focusing on past forgotten pieces giving them a new treasured life to create new and innovative products.

Designer Lisa trawls car boots and charity shops finding pieces to up-cycle with her own homespun designs, uplifted quotes & vintage inspired illustrations, creating a finished product that is modern meets vintage; keeping the traditional but feeling new as Lisa carefully balances the masculinity of the modern with the softness of vintage.

Lisa was suggested a range of plates with my embroideries on based on British birds.  I got to work researching straight away and then embroidered birds onto white cotton with black embroidery.  It was tricky to describe the different colours and textures of the birds with just one colour.  I enjoyed the challenge and am pleased with the results.

I am pleased with how I managed to describe the individual markings of the birds.  I plan to complete some more to complete the range.  Once completed the embroideries were then photographed and sent to Lisa to work her magic on the plates.  I am so happy and proud with the finished products.  You can buy these in my Etsy shop, (click on the images  and you will be sent automatically to it).  Lisa also has a website where you can buy these and her other designs at www.heartvintage.co.uk  .

Each plate is a one off as the plates vary in pattern and colour.

The plates also look good on their own.  They could be part of a display made up of other frames and pictures and add a unique touch to your room.

I've enjoyed working with Lisa so much, it's been wonderful to have someone else to bounce ideas off.  If you are interested in working with me on a collaboration please contact me.
